Hi, Dear Friends,
It’s the Indian Festival of Basant Panchami on 10/02/2019 which is also celebrated as a Valentine Day by young people.
It is the celebration of welcoming the spring season. Spring season enters in some of our regions at this time even though it is still much cold in most parts of India. Nature gets decorated in yellow color with the blooming mustard flowers all over those fields at this time.
Goddess Saraswati (or even Parvati, Lakshmi) are worshiped on this occasion by adoring them with yellow clothes and, white and yellow flowers. Younger generations celebrate it with their friends expressing their love towards each other.
Devotees visit temples wearing yellow clothes and worship the Goddess offering yellow food dishes as offering to Her along with the yellow flowers.
And, parents with younger children celebrate the occasion by introducing their children to the learning of vocabulary and schooling. The function is known as “Aksharabhyasam” wherein the child is made to draw some vowel on a slate with the chalk amid puja done to the Goddess either by the parents themselves or through a Pandit. Neighboring children are also invited on this occasion and gifts like pencils, pens or color-boxes distributed to them.
Any kind of festival is celebrated by inviting relatives, friends, or neighbors and it is enjoyed by all the participants jointly. Festivals are always occasions for spreading love, culture, generosity, and humanity among people.
So, let us spread the message of love to all humanity on this occasion.
Be kind and generous to all alike discarding hate or jealousy at any being. Let us love humanity as it is without drawing any differences between them.
